Business Development Manager

We have a vacancy for a Business Development Manager to primarily focus on opportunities in the rural sector.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with customers and partners is essential. Experience or interest in the rural or environmental sector is beneficial. No mapping/GIS knowledge is necessary as training will be provided on our software.

Purpose:

To operate and direct all activities across the rural sector. Build customer relationships and expand sales and marketing activity. To grow the sector in line with the ever changing mapping and rural requirements.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Manage key accounts and become the client’s main point of contact.
  • To follow up on sales leads. This includes demonstrating software and GPS devices, producing quotes and providing after sales support.
  • Lead the marketing of our products and services through newsletters, webinars, videos and new intuitive methods.
  • Work with customers to understand their requirements and feed this back to the development team.
  • Manage the migration of customers from legacy software to PearGIS.
  • Network and build a rapport with Rural Organisations such as the CLA, RPA, Natural England etc.
  • Keep up to date with changes in the Rural sector and advise management on crucial changes that might affect direction.
  • Lead on the delivery of Pear products and services to customers and partners.
  • Run group training sessions both in person and online.
  • Exhibit at shows with Pear staff and attend Rural conferences.
  • Expand the company’s profile and create sales opportunities in the key areas.
  • Identify and explore new areas of the business.
  • Note – map preparation is not part of the role, although knowledge of map prep would be required in order to set up demos and configure PearGIS projects for customers.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: £25,000 + Commission

Commission (estimate): £8,000 – £10,000

On Target Earnings: £33,000 – £35,000 + company bonus scheme

Remote working

25 days holiday + bank holidays

Software Developer

We are a small business based in Havant, currently employing 12 full time staff including 2 developers. We have a vacancy for an additional software developer to join our team.

Job Title:

Software Developer, reporting to Senior Software Developer.

Job Location:

Havant Office (hybrid working is also available).

Working Hours:

Full time, 37 hours per week, based on Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm with some flexibility.

Job Summary:

We have been developing a new desktop GIS application and are looking to introduce cloud based map sharing and collaboration elements. Your role will be mainly focused on the development of our desktop application, with a view to shaping the way we work in the future.*

Main Duties:

  • Assist with the design, code, test and integration of modules for the new applications.
  • Investigate fault reports and requests for improvements to existing applications.
  • Implement agreed changes.
  • Prepare and package software for distribution.

Technical Skills:

  • Essential – knowledge of object-orientated programming, preferably C# (.NET Framework / Core).
  • Desirable – Familiarity with Visual Studio 2022.
  • Desirable – Familiarity with Azure DevOps or a similar working environment.
  • Desirable – Awareness of AWS services.
  • Desirable – Some knowledge of relational and other databases, such as SQL Server, Microsoft Access or SQLite would be very beneficial.

Salary / Benefits:

Salary equivalent to £20,000 – £23,000 p.a. and 25 days leave p.a.*
*Hybrid working is also available.

Qualifications:

Degree in Software Engineering or a related subject with a significant programming element.
